Cactus / valdezianus

I stopped posting for a while because I could not see any cacti flowers in winter.

A turbinicarpus valdezianus was in flower yesterday afternoon.

It was 1st flowering of cacti in this spring. May of others will follow this cactus, I think. 

Cactus disciformis

 A degrafted Strombocactus disciformis pushed a flower up yesterday.

It is mid of winter and so it is a very early flowering.

Since I stopped watering in mid of May, the cactus shrinkes a little bit.

Cactus / geometrizans

 It was cold morning. Even in the greenhouse, it was just 4 'C.

I found a Myrtillocactus geometrizans planted in my backyard pushed flowering buds up.

It was North face of the cactus. The North face is warmer in here.

Cactus / kotschoubeyanus

 An ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus f Rio Varde was in flower in this afternoon.

Since winter has been, only limited species are in flower.

It was grafted once and the body has turned to a large block.

Cactus / pectinatus

 I thought it was no more Ariocarpus flowers because winter has been in here but a degrafted pectinatus was in flower in this afternoon.

I got seeds from my friend and sowed in 2018.

12 seedlings were grafted but mice ate scions. As the result, only 3 scions have survived.

Cactus / agavoides

 5 ariocarpus agavoides were in flower yesterday afternoon. The photo is one of them.

Agavoides has long and thin tubercles but they will be shorter if the cactus was grafted once.

The cactus on photo has long tubercles which means it has never been grafted.

Cactus pectinifera

 An uebelmannia pectinifera was in flower yesterday.

Uebelmania are in flower many times through a year.

Flowers of pectinifera are very small as shown on the photo.
