Cactus / Ariocarpus

The photo is a fused Ariocarpus agavoides + kotshoubeyanus.
Both of them were in flower together.
Ariocarpus is in flower in autumn but it is not easy to see flowers of these species together.

Cactus / retusus

A degrafted Ariocarpus retusus v schapharostroides was in flower.
This species has relatively small body compared to the standard retusus.
I am not sure the name. I just refer to the name tag of seed which I bought.

Cactus / cauliflower

A degrafted Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus cv Suguri cauliflower was in flower.
It is 2nd flowering of the cactus in this autumn.
This one shows the character of "cauliflower" very well.

Cactus / scaphirostris

An ariocarpus scaphirostris was in flower.
Since I keep just 3 flowering size of this species, 12 young seedlings were grafted in this year.
Scaphirostris is a relatively small cactus. The one on the photo is just 10 cm in diameter.

Cactus / Daruma Seiji

Many Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus cv Daruma Seiji were in flower.
The attached photo is one of them.
This cultivar has round and seiji colour tubercles.
Flower is white/creame colour on 1st day of opening but it turns to pinkish gradually.

Cactus / trigonus

Many Ariocarpus retusus v trigonus were in flower.
Trigonus is similar to elongatus and it is hard to tell how different they are.
The photo is one of them in 12 cm square pot.

Cactus / elongatus

Two matured Ariocarpus retusus v elongatus were in flower.
They were degrafted abd rooted 2 years ago.
The attached photo is one of them.
Flowers release a nice scent.

Cactus / Ariocarpus hybrid

An ariocarpus hybrid, retusus x fissuratus was in flower in this morning.
I did not make this one intensinally.
I am not sure but the body and flower show as retusus x fissuratus.
It is the 2nd flowering for the cactus in this autumn.

Cactus / fissuratus

A matured ariocarpus fissuratus f Big Bend was in flower in this morning.
It is the 2nd flowering for the cactus in this autumn.
Form Big Bend has smmother body than that of standard fissuratus.

Cactus / kotschoubeyanus

Many degrafted Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus were in flower in the afternoon.
The photo is one of them.
Kotschoubeyanus is a single head normally but it turns to a multi-heads form as shown on the photo when it was grafted.

Cactus / miracle kabuto

Although it is mid of autumn, several young miracle kabutos have returned to be in flower.
The photo is one of them.
Seed was sown in 2012 and the current size is 8cm in diameter.

Cactus / cauliflower

A degrafted Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus cv Suguri cauliflower was in flower.
This one is propagated from seed harvested from my cactus.
The cactus shows the character of cauliflower very well.

Cactus / Daruma seiji

The flower of Ariocarpus retusus related species is white but it turns to pinkish 3~4 days after from 1st opening day.
The photo is an Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus cv Daruma seiji with a pinkish flower.
It is also a good timing of the pollination.

Cactus / red flowering asterias

A red flowering asterias were in flower yesterday.
It is a 2nd filial red flowering hanazono kabuto but it has not shown the character of "hanazono" yet.
The body size of 2nd filial asterias is quite small normally.
The size of this one is 7 cm in diameter.

Cactus / super kabuto

It should be out of season for asterias flowering but some of them are still in flower.
The photo is one of them, a super kabuto.
This one has started to show kikko character aund the growing point.

Cactus / fused ariocarpus

A fused Ariocarpus agavoides + kotschoubeyanus was in flower.
Only agavoides wsa in flower in this time.
I have never seen both species are in flower together yet.

Cactus / trigonus

An ariocarpus trigonus was in flower.
The flower of trigonus releases a nice scent.
This cactus is a degrafted and rooted one.
The trigonus is very similar to an elongatus and I can not tell differences.

Cactus / furfuraceus

Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus were in flower.
The photo is one of them.
Seeds were sown in 2008.
This cactus has never been grafted, just relied on own-roots only.

Cactus / fissuratus

A rooted off-set, Ariocarpus fissuratus was in flower.
It was rooted 2 years ago and is still quite small.
Because of that, the flower looks like a large one.

Cactus / cauliflower

A degrafted Ariocarpus v furfuraceus cv Suguri cauliflower was in flower.
Since only several in many seedlings show the character of cauliflower, I select them.
The photo is one of selected.

Cactus / Daruma royal

A degrafted Ariocarpus retusus cv Daruma royal was in flower.
I bought seeds and sowed in 2004.
This cultivar has larger tubercles than that of standard retusus.

Degrafted Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus cv Daruma Seiji were in flower.
This cultivar has round tubercles and seiji colour body.
