Cactus / hanazono kabuto

A hanazono kabuto was in flower.
This one shows a typical hanazono character, very thick flecking.
The size is 14 cm in diameter.

Cactus / fukuryu hakujou banjyaku

An astrophytum hybrid, fukuryu hakujou banjyaku was in flower.
Banjyaku is a hybrid of ornatum x myriostigma.
I got seeds from my friend and grafted seedlings on Pereskiopsis stocks.
A 2 years old scion was degrafted and rooted.

Cactus / Onzuka

An astrophyum cultivar, Onzuka ranpo gyoku was in flower.
This is one of my favorite cultivars developed by Mr Onzuka years ago.
It is 10 cm in diameter currently.

Cactus / horstii

A discocactus horstii was in flower early in the morning.
This one has a short grafting stock which is called "dai-tuki oroshi".
The grafted cacti will have a shorter life compared to a own root ones.
I hope this one to get a long life.

Cactus / red flowering asterias

A red flowering asterias was in flower.
This one is the base plant of red flowering asterias in my place.
I assume the original seed came from Europe.
Unfortunately the body is quite small.

One flowering bud has come out from abnormal location.

A red flowering super kabuto was in flower.
I have never crossed super kabuto x red flowering asterias by myself but the flower of this one is reddish color.
It may mixed the gene of red flower in history.

Cactus / miracle kabuto

Several miracle kabutos were in flower.
The photo is one of them, showing a typical character of the miracle kabuto.
It has passed more than 10 years since the germination of the cactus but this one has grown continuously.

Cactus / hanazono-super kabuto

The attached photo is a hanazono-super kabuto.
I mixed hanazono's gene onto a super kabuto.
Flowers come out from areoles on noemal asterias including super kabuto.
As you can see, some of flower buds come out from other parts of areoles.
This is the character of hanazono kabuto.

A variegated asterias propagated from seed has pushed a flowering bud up.
I crossed a variegated asterias x ruri kabuto.
This one is a "ruri kabuto nishiki".
The flowering bud is also variegated.

They are in flower almost same time in a hot day.

An obregonia denegrii was in flower.
Off-sets of O. denegrii are easy to root but this one is propagated from seed by myself.
It takes years from seed to flower.

The yellow flower gives off a citrus scent.

A small Astrophytum asterias propagated from an offset was in flower.
This one is mixed genera of red flower and hanazono.
The cactus is in a 65 mm square pot.

Cactus / heterochromus

Several cacti were in flower in the afternoon.
It was rain in the morning but it stopped after lunch.
The photo is one of them, Thelocactus heterochromus.
Flowers of Thelocactus are quite large.

Cactus / heptacanthus

I found a Discocactus heptacanthus v griseus was in flower in the morning.
I degrafted this one recently.
I assume this one has not rooted yet.
