Cactus / retusus

A degrafted Ariocarpus retusus v major cv Daruma-royal was in flower.
I bought seeds and sowed in 2004.
Selected young seedlings were grafted on Hylocereus and degrafted later with a short vascular bundle of the stock.
The plant relied on the vascular bundle a while but it was switched over to own-roots.
I confirmed it during last repotting.

Cactus / furfuraceus

I bought 20 seeds of Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus cv Suguri-cauliflower and sowed in 2005.
Unfortunately only this one shows the character of cauliflower.
It is not significant but I believe the gene is mixed in.
Some of descendants of this species show the character.

Cactus / retusus

A grafted Ariocarpus retusus v major was in flower.
I bought seeds as A. retusus v major cv mitsuibo (tri-fingers) but I could not see the character of cultivar at all unfortunately.
It will happen quite often if you bought cactus seeds and propagated.

Cactus / super kabuto

The size of asterias flower in autumn is quite small.
The attached photo is a super kabuto opened a flower yesterday.
As you can see, the flower is very small.
Fruits also need long time to ripen in autumn.

Cactus / asterias

Although it has been in autumn, some asterias have still been in flower.
The photo is one of them, quite old.
I sowed seeds in 2000.
Flowers come out from unusual locations.

Cactus / fissuratus

It is again an Ariocarpus fissuratus, in flower yesterday.
This one is propagated from a seed. Own-rooted fissuratus grow very slowly.
I sowed seeds in September 2006.
