 A gymnocalycium spegazzinii v cardenasianum was in flower yesterday afternoon.

I propagate this one from seed.

Since spines are strong, they limit flower to open completly.

Cactus / astrophytum hybrid

 An astrophytum hybrid, hakujo fukuryu banjyaku was in flower in this afternoon.

Since I just got seeds from my freind, I am not sure the history of the cactis,

Banjyaku is a hybrid, myriostigma x ornatum.

Cactus / astrophytum hybrid

 Two astrophytum species were in flower in this afternoon.

The photo is one of them, 1st filial hybrid  which is senile x super kabuto.

The cactus is 12 cm in diameter.

An echinocactus horizonthalonius v moelleri was in this afternoon.

Spines of moelleri are bit poor than standard one.

Moelleri is in flower every year in this season.

 

Cactus / strobiliformis

 An pelecyphora strobiliformis was in flower.

This ia also rooted off-set, appearing hairly.

The cactus is 8 cm in diameter.

Cactus / alonsoi

 I have kept 17 flowering age turbinicarpus alonsoi which were propagated from seeds. One of them was in flower yesterday.

Seeds were harvested from my plants.

The cactus is small, just 5 cm in diameter.

cactus / vatteri

 A gymnocalycium vatteri was in flower yesterday afternoon.

I propagated this cactus from seed.

This vatteri has single spines, 12 cm in diameter.

I have kept 30 flowering this species. The cactus is a rooted off-set. All of them are same.

Rooting pelecyphra is not difficult.

 Flowers of ariocarpus retusus v jarmilae MM110 have come back.

Actually two plants are in flower. The photo is one of them.

The life of degrafted cacti are shorter than that of own-root ones.

 May is the last month in autumn in here and almost all flowers of ariocarpus have finished but two fissuratus cv godzilla were in flower in this morning.

New flower of this species is white but pinky colour will be added in 2~3 days later as shown the attached photo.

 My friend gave me some seeds of cauliflower and I sowed in 2014.

Since the history of seeds was unknown, some seedlings were grafted to see result earlier.

It seems the cactus is not a cauliflower, a hybrid I think.

The best looking age of asterias is around 10 years old.

To harvest seeds earlier, several seedlings were grafted. This is one of them.

Since it was grafted once, the body is quite large but all descndants are small plants.

Normal own-rooted fissuratus is around 10 cm in diameter but the cactus on the photo is 17 cm in diameter.

The grafting affects the size of body.

This species is in flower in late summer every year.

I bought seeds and sowed in 2007.

The cactus became tall when it was a mature age, 20 cm tall.

The cactus is 2 years old, 8 cm in diameter.

This month is the last month of summer. This flowering is too early.
