Cactus / horizonthalonius

 3 echinocactus horizonthalonius related species were in flower yesterday.

The photo is one of them, E. horizonthalonius v moelleri.

Spines of moelleri is shorter than that of standard horizonthalonius.

Cactus / miracle kabuto

 Several astrophytum asterias related species were in flower. The photo is one of them, a miracle kabuto.

I sowed seeds harvested from  my cacti in 2006.

The miracle kabuto on photo is my largest asterias, 19 cm in diameter.

Cactus / heterochromus

 Three thelocactus heterochromus f longispinus were in flower yesterday.

The photo is one of them. I bougt seeds and sowed in 2006.

Flower of thelocactus is large, 8cm in diameter.

Cactus / placentiformis

A discocactus placentiformis v latispinus f major HU640 was in flower early in this morning.

I bought seeds and sowed in 2007. 3 plants have survived.

The cactus is quite large as named, 15 cm in diameter.

 

Cactus / armatum

 A matured gymnocalycium spegazzinii v armatum was in flower.

I bought seeds and sowed in 2003. Just one plant have survived unfortunatey.

The cactus is 20 cm tall and 15 cm in diameter.

Cactus / horstii

 I kept many Discocactus horstiies before but almost all were gone. I have kept just one which was in flower yesterday.

The cactus is a rooted off-set.  The rooting of off-set of this species was not easy but I could just one.

The cactus is quite small, in 6.5 cm square pot.

Cactus / kikko, super kabuto

 Many asterias were in flower yesterday. The photo is one of them, cv kikko, super kabuto.

It was just a super kabuto but it turned to kikko form when the cactus reached a mature age.

It is a super kabuto but the body is not small, 15 cm in diameter.

the

 1st filial Astrophytum hybrids, capricorne x red flowering asterias were in flower yesterday.

They are quite young. I wanted to see the hybridization result earlier and grafted seedlings.

They were degrafted with short Pereskiopsis stocks.

Cactus / ornatum

 I could not see so many cacti flowers because of too hot. Yesterday was 36'C and today will be 38'C.

One gymnocalycium species was in flower in this morning, which was G. spegazzinii v ornatm.

Strong spines limit the flower to open freely.

Cactus hybrid

 4 turbinicarpus alonsoi related species were in flower ysterday.

The photo is one of them, a hybrid T. alonsoi x Strombocactus disciformis.

Alonsoi is pollen receiver and disciformis is pollen supplier.

Cactus / loricatum

 3 gymnocalycium spegazzinii v loricatum were in flower yesterday.

The photo is one o them.

I had a visitor from Europe yesterday. It was not so hot day but inside of greenhouses were more than 40 'C and we could not stay long time.

Cactus / superkabuto

 A matured astrophytum asterias cv seper kabuto was in flower.

As you can see on the photo, the cactus shows a typical star fish shape, 12 cm in diameter.

This cactus has also shown the character of hanazono.

Cactus / myriostigma

 A matured astrophytum v nudum cv kikko, khoyo was in flower.

As you can see on the attache photo, this cultivar shows two characters which are kikko and khoyo.

This cactus experienced insect attack twice and remained scars.

Cactus super kabuto

 A matured astrophytum asterias cv super kabuto was in flower yesterday.

It was a normal super kabuto when the cactus was young but the cactus has shown the character of hanazon. Flowers come out from body side.

The cactus is 12 cm in diameter.

Cactus / miracle kabuto

 A matured  Astrophytum asterias cv miracle kabuto was in flower yesterday afternoon.

I lost several miracle kabutos last spring but this one  has been able to survive.

I may restart to propagate miracle kabutos.
