Cactus / intermedius

Many Ariocarpus species are in flower currently.
The photo is one of them, a degrafted fissuratus v intermedius.
I bought seeds and sowed in 2005. 24 young seedlings were grafted.
They were degrafted several years ago.

Cactus / elongatus

The degrafted Ariocarpus retusus v elongatus was in flower.
It was also sown seeds in 2005.
Although I degrafted a large cactus 3 years ago but it was rooted easily.

Cactus / red flowering asterias

Many red flowering asterias were in flower together.
The photo is one of them.
They are all mature cacti but they are quite small.
The cactus on the photo is just 7 cm in diameter.

Cactus / miracle kabuto

Shade cloths covered over greenhouses were removed last Saturday.
Because of that, flowers of asterias have returned.

Cactus / fissuratus

The photo is another fused cacti, Ariocarpus fissuratus and Astrophytum asterias cv miracle kabuto.
Since I could see a flowering bud on the miracle kabuto, I expected to see flowers of both species but only fissuratus were in flower.

Cactus / scaphirostris

An ariocarpus scaphirostris was in flower.
Although this one looked very weak but it recovered well lately.
I just have kept 2 flowering size of this species but 12 seedlings are grafted in this season.

Cactus / Shinkawa tama-zouge

A matured Ariocarpus retusus cv Shinkawa tama-zouge was in flower.
I assume this cultivar was developed by Mr. Shinkawa in Japan.
This cultivar has longer tubercles than that of standard retusus.
I bought seeds and sowed in 2005.

Cactus / retusus

A matured Ariocarpus retusus was in flower.
I bought seeds and sowed in 2003.
This one is the oldest retusus in my place, around 20 cm in diameter.

Cactus / Ariocarpus hybrid

An ariocarpus hybrid was in flower.
I did not make it intensionally but I assume it is retusus x fissuratus.
The cactus is small, just 10 cm in diameter.

Cactus / cauliflower

A matured Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus cv Suguri cauliflower was in flower.
I sowed many seeds and selected seedlings which showed the character of "cauliflower".
This cactus is one of them, 15 cm in diameter.

This cultivar has round and seiji colour tubercles.

A young seedling was grafted and degrafted later.
The cactus relies on own-roots currently.

Cactus / kotschoubeyanus

A degrafted kotschoubeyanus v elephontideus was in flower yesterday.
Var elephontideus has larger tubercles compared to standard one.
As shown on the photo, the flower is dark red.

It was grafted on a Echinopsis stock and degrafted last September.
This one is rooted,  relies on own-roots.

Cactus / spegazzinii

A Gymunocalycium spegazzinii v loricatum was in flower yesterday.
Loricatum has short and thick spines.
I bought seeds and sowed in 2003.
The current size is 17 cm in diameter.
Gymnocalycium grow well in autumn/early winter in here.

Ariocarpus retusus related species have been in flower continuously.
The photo is a retusus cv tri-fingers but it has never turned to tri-fingers unfortunately.
This degrafed and rooted cactus is 14 cm in diameter.

I repotted it into a 125 mm square pot last spring but it seems too tight again.
I have to repot it next spring.

This is an Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus.
It is mixed the gene of cauliflower but the cactus has not sown the character of cauliflower.
This one is a mature cactus, 19 cm in diameter.

I bought seeds and sowed on 31st October 2003.
The scion was degrafted in 2005.
The cactus relies on own-roots currently.
