Cactus / fused cacti

 The photo is a fused cacti, Astrophytum asterias cv miracle kabuto + Ariocarpus fissuratus.

Since it is summer in here, miracle kabuto is in flower.

I expect the fissuratus is in flower in autumn.

 A degrafted and rooted Astrophytum hybrid, hakujou fukuryu banjyaku was in flower yesterday.

Since the gene of ornatum is mixed in banjyaku, rooting is quite easy.

The cactus is just 8 cm in diameter.

 A young Astrophytum asterias cv Oibo ruri kabuto was in flower.

Although it is in flower, the cactus is quite small, just 6 cm in diameter

I bought seeds and sowed in 2003. The current size is 16 cm in diameter.

Loricatum has short and thick spines.

 A 1st filial Astrophytum hybrid, hakuran-super was in flower.

Hakuran-super is the hybrid of coahuilense x super kabuto.

The cactus is 15 cm in diameter.

Cactus / miracle kabuto

 Several young Astrophytum asterias cv miracle kabutos were in flower.

They are 7~8 cm in diameter.

The photo is one of them, showing a typical miracle character already.

Cactus / fused cactus

 A. fused cactus was in flower.

Two spacies were fused. One is an Astrophytum asterias cv miracle kabuto and the other is an Ariocarpus fissuratus.

A short Pereskiopsis stock is attached them and buried in potting-mix.

They rely on the short stock.

 The photo is a 1st filial red flowering hanazono kabuto.

It is hanazono kabuto x red flowering asterias.

The cactus shows both characters, hanazono and red flowering.

Since the body of Onzuka seedlings were thin, I grafted them and made fat bodies.

The cactus is a rooted off-set.

The rooting of asterias is not easy but this one has taken well.

I sowed seed in 2004 and current size is 19 cm in diameter.

Since the gene of ornatum is mixed in banjyaku, the rooting is quite easy.

The cactus is a nudum form.

The flower of myriostigma nudum form releases citrus scent.

I bought seeds and sowed in 2006.

Flowers of heterochromus are quite large.

 Yesterday was hot. The room temperature in greenhouse reached to 40 'C.

The attached photo is one of them, 13 cm in diameter.

Cactus / super kabuto

 A matured super kabuto was in flower in the afternoon.

As shown on the photo, this one shows kikkou patern around growing point.

I am not sure the reason but it will turn to a kikkou kabuto in future.

 This is an other Discocactus, a horstii.

The cactus is a rooted off-set.

I failed rooting of this species many times but this one was taken well. It spent for 1 year to root.

As shown on the photo, the cactus is a variegated one.

A standard asterias is yellow flowering but this one is red.

It is hard to be able to see a true red colour one and so I crossed several times to reached to "true red".

A Spegazzinii v loricatum has short thick spines.

I bought seeds and sowed in 2004.

This species has single spines.

Cactus / hakujyou fukuryu banjyaku

 Several Astrophytum hakujyou fukuryu banjyaku were in flower in the afternoon.

Banjyaku is a hybrid, ornatum x myriostigma.

The hybrid is easy to root because the gene of ornatum is mixed.

The cactus on photo is a rooted off-set.

Cactus / hintonii

 This is an other Aztekium, degrafted and rooted hintonii.

I have kept 5 rooted hintonii but only this one is flowering size.

Cactus / ritteri

 A degrafted Aztekium ritteri was in flower.

It was degrafted but a short Pereskiopsis stock still has been remained. The cactus has relied on the stock.

I have tried to root this species but I have not gotten any successful result yet.

I have tried to remove stain covered over the body but I have not been able to find a good method yet.

 An Epithelantha micromeris v neomexicana was in flower in the afternoon.

Flowers of Epithelantha are very small.

Seeds were given by my friend and sowed on 30th September 2006.

Epithelantha is self-fertile and formed red fruits without forced pollination.

 A South American cactus, gymnocalycium ambatoense was in flower yesterday afternoon.

I once collected many species of Gymnocalycium with strong spines.

I lost them gradually and just small numbers have been remained.

The appearence is very similar to T. alonsoi.

The rooting of Pelecyphora is not difficult.

 I could see some flowers of several species.
