Cactus / horizonthalonius

An echinocactus horizonthalonius was in flower.
I propagate this one from seed.
The germination rate of horizonthalonius' seed is quite poor nornally.
As shown on the photo, the flower is quite large.

Cactus / spegazzinii

A gymnocalycium spegazzinii v loricatum was in flower.
My main collection is North American cacti but some of South American ones are also kept.
The photo is one of South Americans.

Cactus / fukuryu banjyaku

Several Astrophytum hybrid, fukuryubanjyakus were in flower.
The photo is one of them.
Banjyaku is a hybrid, ornatum x myriostigma.

Cactus / Onzuka

Several astrophytum myriostigma cv Onzukas were in flower.
The photo is one of hem, Shima-iri Onzuka rampo.
This one is degrafted and rooted.

Cactus / herrerae

4 mammillaria herreraes were in flower.
They were rooted off-sets taken from the grafted mother plant.
The rooting of herrerae is not difficult.

Cactus / capricorne

An astrophytum capricorne was in flower.
Since this one is mixed the gene of red flowering asterias, the colour of flower is special.
The body is quite small, just 5 cm in diameter.

Cactus / miracle kabuto

A young miracle kabuto was in flower.
I sowed seed in 2012.
The current size is 7 cm in diameter.
The cactus has started to show the character of "miracle kabuto".

Cactus / fukuryu hannya

An astrophytum hybrid, fukuryu hannya was in flower.
Although the character of ornaum is appeared strongly, the gene of myriostigma is also mixed.
Since this one comes out from seeds given by my friend, the history is unknown.

Cactus / red flowering asterias

Several red flowering asterias were in flower in the afternoon.
The photo is one of them.
Red floweing asterias in my place tend to be a small body.
I will try to gain body size someday.

The photo is a typical South American cactus, Gymnocalycium ambatoense.
I bought a small plant in 2003.

Cactus / reddish flowering asterias

It is 2nd filial red flowering hanazono kabuto.
The flower is not red enough and also not showing the character of hanazono yet unfortunately.
The current name is reddish flowering asterias from the above reason.

Cactus / aselliformis

Many Pelecyphora aselliformis were in flower.
Since seedlings of aselliformis are hard to turn thick body, I graft them and make thick body brfore degrafting.
Rooting of aselliformis is very easy.
All of aselliformis on the photo are made by the above mentioned method.

Cactus / humbolditii

A mammillaria humbolditii v caespitosa was in flower.
I once increased number of mammillaria species but they were decreased gradually.
I bought seeds and sowed in 2004.
It has been remaind just one plant of this species.

Cactus / hintonii

An aztekium hintonii was in flower yesterday afternoon.
It is almost 5 years old and is 1st flowering for the cactus.
A 10 mm off-set was grafted on Pereskiopsis stock in 2015.
In 2017, the scion was degrafted and rooted.
The current size is 70 mm in diameter.

Cactus / heterochromus

A thelocactus heterochromus f longispinus was in flower.
It is the 1st flowering of the cactus in this season.
This cactus was propagated from seed, sown in 2006.
The flower of Thelocactus is large and shiny.

Cactus / kebadachi kabuto

We got sunny days lately. The temperature in the greenhouse reaches to 40 'C in the afternoon.
An astrophytum asterias cv kebadachi kabuto was in flower  yesterday.
This asterias, very low-head  has fluffy flecking.

Cactus / Onzuka

An astrophytum myriostigma cv Shimairi Onzuka was in flower yesterday afternoon.
Onzuka seedlings are hard to gain the body diameter when they kept as own-root.
This one was once grafted to minimise the above problem.
The Onzuka on photo was degrafted and rooted after gained the body size by the grafting.

Cactus / super kabuto

Many cacti were in flower yesterday afternoon.
This is one of them, Astrophytum asterias cv super kabuto.
I propagate this from seed.
It is a mature plant, 13 cm in diameter.
