Cactus / kotschoubeyanus

I degrafted this one in 2007 with a short vascular bundle of a Hylocereus.
The vascular bundle has died and the cactus has relied on own-roots.
The body has grown as a big block.

Cactus / bravoanus

A degrafted Ariocarpus bravoanus was in flower.
Since this one was grafted once, the shape is not so good but it is good enough to collect seeds.

Cactus / trigonus

A degrafted Ariocarpus trigonus was in flower.
Although it is very young and relatively small, it has reached the flowering age because this one was grafted once.

Cactus / agavoides

Several  Ariocarpus agavoides were in flower.
Tubercles of own-root agavoides are quite long as shown on the photo.
I have tried to maintain these long tubercles without any damages.

Cactus / retusus related cultivars

Degrafted Ariocarpus retueue related cultivars were in flower.
They are all 5 years old.
When they were 2 years old, I degrafted them with short stocks.
Stocks are buried in potting-mix and they have still relied on stocks.

Cactus / Suguri cauliflower

Cactus / Daruma seiji

A degrafted Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus cv Daruma seiji was in flower.
The character of cultivar appears on the body color and the shape of tubercles.
This one has seiji body color with round tubercles.
Since I have tried to increase this species, I did pollination.

Cactus / Shinkawa tama-zouge

A degrafted Ariocarpus retusus cv Shinkwa tama-zouge was in flower.
Since the root of Ariocarpus becomes quite long, a deep pot designed for orchid is used as a trial.
It seems working well.
Although it is a degrafted cactus but the appearance looks like a one propagated from a seedling.

Cactus / Daruma royal

A degrafted Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus cv Daruma royal was in flower.
It seemed very weak and I was worried about.
But the flowering means the cactus is still kept a healthy condition.

Cactus / Ariocarpus hybrid

A degrafted Ariocarpus hybrid was in flower.
It seems fissuratus x ? but I am not sure.
It is not intensional hybridization and it may not clear for ever.

Cactus / furfuraceus

Several degrafted Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus were in flower.
Seeds are A. retusus v furfuraceus cv Suguri cauliflower but they have not sown the character of cauliflower.
I just call them as "furfuraceus" because of that.

Cactus / agavoides

Several degrafted Ariocarpus agavoides were in flower.
Tubercles of degrafted one are shorter than the one grown own-roots.
The photo is one of them.

Cactus / fissuratus

4 of Ariocarpus fissuratus were in flower together.
I sowed seeds in 2006.
Fissuratus seedlings grow with a relatively good speed.
4~5 years old seedlings will make 1st flower.

Cactus / lloydii

A degrafted Ariocarpus fissuratus v lloydii was in flower.
It has been rooted but it still is not perfect, looks weak.
The flowering might be a good evidence of the recovering.

Cactus / elephntideus

Several degrafted Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus v elephantideus were in flower.
This species has larger tubercles and darker flower color compared to standard one.

Cactus / degrafted hintonii

Seedlings of Ariocarpus bravoanus hintonii glow very slowly.
I have not been able to see flowers of seedlings sown seeds in 2006.
If you grafted them, you can solve this problem.
The photo is degrafted ones, sown seeds in 2013.

Cactus / kotschoubeyanus

Several grafted Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus f Rio Verde were in flower yesterday.
They were grafted for the seed collection purpose.
I have tried to minimize grafted cacti but some of them have still be remained.
The photo is one of them.

Cactus / Ariocarpus hybrid

This is a grafted 1st filial Ariocarpus hybrid, (bravoanus v hintonii x kotschoubeyanus).
I grafted 12 seedlings some years ago.
I think the hybridization affects on and the body is very small.

Saturday, 2 April 2016

Cactus / kabuto

The photo is a 1st filial (Ruri kabuto x Super kabuto).
The dark body color gives a strong contrast with white flecking.
This one was in flower yesterday.

Friday, 1 April 2016

Cactus / bicolor

A grafted Ariocarpus retusus v bicolor was in flower.
It is hard to tell how is different from standard one.
