Cactus / super kabuto

Some asterias were in flower in the afternoon.
The photo is a super kabuto, 12 cm in diameter.
The flower has thin petals.

Cactus / Astrophytum hybrid

An astrophytum hybrid, senil x super kabuto was in flower today.
The flower is yellow petals and orange throat, as same as parents.
This one was an off-set and rooted.

Cactus / red flowering asterias

A red flowering asterias was in flower yesterday afternoon.
It is completely mature age but the body size is quite small, 5 cm in diameter.

Cactus / asterias

An other asterias related cultivar, Ruri-kabuto was in flower yesterday.
Ruri means lapis lazuli.
Since the body of  mature one would be lapis lazuli color, this name is given.

This asterias with fluffy flecking has come out from my seedlings.
I do not have any parents which have similar appearance but it might be mixed the gene in history.
The cactus pushes pot out and so I have to repot it soon.

Hot days have continued. I could not see any rain for a while.
Quite many asterias were in flower yesterday.
The photo is one of them, red flowering super kabuto.

Cactus / mexicana

5 of degrafted Geohintonia mexicana have pushed pots out and seemed very tight.
I repotted them in this morning.
I have not seen their flowers yet but I could see soon, I hope.

Almost all my cacti are propagated from seeds.
Some seedlings grow very slowly.
Astrophytum asterias grows with a reasonable speed.
The photo is 5 years old asterias cultivars.
All of them are flowering size, 5 cm in diameter.
They are from left to right, super kabuto, miracle kabuto, royal super kabuto and red flowering asterias.

Cactus / horizontharonius

An Echinocactus horizontharonius was in flower in this afternoon.
Since the temperature in the greenhouse was too high, only a few cacti were in flower.
The temperature in there was 48 'C.

Cactus / super kabuto

A super kabuto was in flower yesterday afternoon.
The body is a typical sea-star shape and very flat.
Super kabuto is a small type of asterias but this one has reached to 16 cm in diameter.
