I graft young seedlings onto Pereskiopsis stocks every year.
124 seedlings have been grafted in this season.
They will be degrafted in September 2018.

Cactus / asterias seedlings

I sow seeds of asterias every year.
Numbers of seedling have been built up because of that.
I have 150 of miracle kabuto seedlings, sown seeds in 2012.
They have started to show the character of "miracle".
Each seedling is in a 5 cm square tube.

The body color should be blueish green which is ruri-color but it is quite pale actually.

A Geohintonia mexicana was in flower in the afternoon.
This is the 1st flowering of G. mexicana in my place.

They grew well but it was hard to form flowers by unknown reasons.
I grafted several off-sets in 2012. They were degrafted 2014.

Cactus / alonsoi

Turbinicarpus are small cacti.
The photo is an alonsoi, accommodated in a 5 cm square tube.
This means the cactus is less then 5 cm in diameter and in flower.

Cactus / capricorne

I assume this is a standard form of Astrophytum capricorne.
As you can see, it has opened a very large flower.

Cactus / fukuryu banjyaku

A degrafted Astrophytum fukuryu hakujyo banjyaku was in flower.
Banjyaku is a hybrid, ornatum x myriostigma.
It is 2 years old own-rooted.

Cactus / red flowering asterias

The photo is an Astrophytum red flowering asterias.
I bought seeds and sowed in 2007.
The body is quite small, in a 5 cm square tube.
I assume the frequent crossings affect on the body size.

Cactus / grafted seedlings

Since 18 of seedlings grafting process was completed in this morning, I repotted them.
Scions are Ariocarpus species.

A red flowering super kabuto was in flower yesterday.
Actually the color is not true red, reddish.
This one was propagated from normal super kabuto seeds.
It may be mix red flowering gene in history.

I have tried to create a red flowering hanazono kabuto.
The photo is a degrafted 1st filial plant, hanazono kabuto x red flowering kabuto.
It is just 2 years old, showing hanazono character.
I can see a hint of red flowering but it is not good enough.
I will cross a red flowering asterias on the plant and will challenge in 2nd filial.

Cactus / ornatum

Seed of this Gymon spegazzinii v ornatum also was sown in 2003.
Since spines cover over top of the plant, it is hard to open flower completely.

This is another Gymno, spegazzinii v loricatum.
I bought seeds and sowed on 16th November 2003.
This species has very short spines.

My collection of South American cacti is small.
This is one of them, Gymnocalyciume ambatoense.
I bought a small seedling in 2003.

A young Astrophytum myriostigma cv Onzuka was in flower.
I grafted a young seedling onto a Pereskiopsis stock in 2014.
The scion was degrafted in September this year.

4 of Astrophytum asterias cv red flowering asterias were in flower in the afternoon.
I sowed seeds in 2011.
It is hard to get true red ones but I believe they are.

I had many Mammillaria luethyis once but lost many.
Own-root plant has a short life due to unknown reasons.

A degrafted Astrophytum hybrid fukuryu banjyaku was in flower.
The cactus is 2 years old, degrafted in September this year.

Cactus / hanazono kabuto

I have tried to make a red flowering hanazono kabuto.
24 of 1st filial seedlings were grafted 2 years ago and degrafted in this spring.
The photo is 1 of them, showing hanazono character.
I have not satisfied with the flower color, reddish and not true red.
I pollinated with the pollen of red flowering asterias on this stigma.
I will try again.

This a matured A. myriostigma was in flower yesterday.
I bought a seeding in 2003.
It is a standard form showing distinctive appearance.

Rain stopped and got good sunshine through a day today.
A Thelocactus heterochromus f longispinus was in flower.
The flower is very large.

An asterias shows a good looking when it was around  10 years old.
The photo shows a 16 years old asterias which looks a bit ugly.
I repotted this one in the morning.

I propagated several seedlings from seeds but I lost almost all.
Only 1 plant has been remained.
