Cactus / super kabuto

This is also one of many flowering aserias.
This super kabuto has grown well, 15 cm diameter.
Since super kabuto has relatively small body size, I can not expect additional growing so much.

Cactus / variegated asterias

I have not counted but this one has been in flower several times in this season.
The balance of the variegation is maintained well and it still can be kept own-roots.
The balance of variegation is not consistent.
It may move to too much or disappear completely.

Cactus / fukuryu-banjyaku

A friend gave me cactus seeds and said they were nudum fukuryu-banjyaku.
I sowed those seeds on 17th July this year.
24 young seedlings were grafted on Pereskiopsis stocks in the beginning of September.
They show various faces, are not nudum only.
The photo is one of them, hakujyou fukuryu-banjyaku, 3 cm diameter.
Banjyaku is the name of Astrophytum hybrid, ornaum x myriostigma.

Tuesday, 2 December 2014

The growing speed of aselliformis seedlings are very slow and their body shapes are very thin.

They were degrafted in September this year.
The rooting of aselliformis is not so difficult.

This one is also mixed kikkou gene and I assume it will appear soon.

Cactus / another new pot

World has bee small.
I received another pots mailed from overseas yesterday. It is quite short time from the order to the receiving.
Since the largest size of G-pot was 6, I tried to order similar to the one and size 7.
I found a pot called Noah-pot in the website of another supplier, which was similar to G-pot.
I repotted an Ariocarpus retusus v major into a Noah-pot, size 7 yesterday afternoon.

Monday, 3 November 2014

Cactus / red flowering asterias

It is hard to get a true red flowering asterias.

These seedlings have started to be in flower.
The flower of asterias on the photo is quite good red color and so I will cross this one to a hanazono kabuto.

The appearance tuned to the current looking when it reached to a mature age.

Cactus / Ariocarpus seedings

The growing speed of Ariocarpus seedlings is slow.
I sow seeds every year since 2006.

It is A. brevoanus v hintonii which grows very very slowly.
The photo is a seedling sown seeds in 2006, still in a 50 mm square tube.
I expect the flowering next autumn.

Peleciphora aselliformis propagated from cuttings were in flower together yesterday.
It is not so hard to root aselliformis cuttings if the plant size was more than 3 cm diameter.
On the other hand, seedlings will maintain very thin shape and need years to make a flowering size of plants.

The plant is in a 50 mm square tube.

Sunday, 21 September 2014

Cactus / asterias

I am quite sure this one is neither super kabuto nor miracle kabuto.
The pattern of flecking looks like a dream kabuto but the flecking is fluffy and thicker than the dream kabuto.
It comes out from my seeds but I do not have similar parents.
I assume a gene mixed in history has come out on the plant.
The plant is still young, 8 cm  diameter.
