Since this spring is quite cool, flowering of Mammillaria is late.

  1. Good Day. I was looking for an email or any other way to contact you in private, but I wasn't able to find any, so I'll posting here. I do apologize in advance if this might be off-topic or misplaced. :) Anyway, I got to find your site via cacti-guide.com; I'm from the Philippines and I've been a member of the forums since 2007, but I've been inactive for the past 3-4 years, and only these past few weeks have I started visiting the site again. I've also been collecting, and growing cacti since the late 1990's, but I haven't been able to maintain a collection since I don't have time and space here in the city (I hail from the countryside; and I had to live here for my studies and work). Now I only have a couple of dozen plants of the most hardy kinds (Gymno's and Echinopsis and the likes), but there was a time when I had close to a couple of hundred of specimens. I would like to ask about your place, as in your posts in the forums, I gather you live in a semi-tropical area; in the Philippines, as you know we're a tropical country so it's always hot, and for months in a year we have a wet season, which is an understatement since some places get really, really wet. Our temperatures rarely go below 24.0°C(75.2°F)(at night), and as far as written literature goes about taking care of cacti and succulents, it's a little hard to grow them successfully in an area that's always warm, but upon reading your descriptions in the forums, and seeing your plants you are able to grow, I wonder if that's simply an outdated information. Do post or tell about your growing conditions, your area, rainfall etc, as I would like to know about your growing regimen and your experiences as a cacti grower/hobbyist. You can be as particular or specific as you like, it won't be boring for sure. :) Again I apologize if this is not the right place to post this, I would only like to know more about you and this hobby. Much thanks in advance :)
