Cactus / cauliflower

 An ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus cv Suguri cauliflower has pushed 2 fruits up.

I did pollination last autumn, April in this year.

I think I can harvest around 80 seeds from this cactus.

Cactus / monvillei

 A gymnocalycium monvillei v horridispinum was in flower yesterday afternoon.

I bought seeds and sowed in 2004.

I just refer to the name witten on the seeds package but I am not sure the true name.

Cactus / disciformis

 A strombocactus disciformis was in flower yesterday.

My friend gave me this cactus about 10 years ago.

Seedlings of disciformis grow very slowly. I have kept about 100 seedlings, around 10 mm in diameter. They were propagated from seeds harvested from this cactus.

Cactus / hybrid cactus

 A 1st filial intergeneric hybrid, Turbinicarpus alonsoi x Strombocactus disciformis was in flower yesterday.

It is a hybrid but the cactus is similar to a alonsoi.

The cactus is a degrafted one, 9 cm in diameter.

Cactus / horizonthalonius

 4 echinocactus horizonthalonius were in flower yesterday afternoon.

I bought 20 seeds and sowed in 2006. The germination rate was not so good.

The photo is one of them. Since I have kept the cactus in the greenhouse, spines are thin.

Cactus / Astrophytum hybrid

 Two astrophytum hybrids, capricorne x red flowering asterias were in flower.

They are 1st filial hybrids.

The photo is one of them. Although flowers are red, I can not see any character of capricorne on its body.

Cactus / Onzuka banjyaku

 Astrophytum hybrid, ornatum x myriosigma is called banjyaku. If the myriostigma was Onzuka, the name of hybrid is Onzuka banjyaku.

I have kept several Onzuka banjyaku which were made by myself.

One of them was  in flower yesterday.

Cactus / myiostigma related cultivar

 I tried to make a culivar called "yoroi" but my trial failed.

Yoroi has two caracters which are fukuryu and kikko.

They have reached to flowering size and the photo is one of them. The cactus shows only fukuryu character.

Cactus / Onzuka

 I have kept quite many Astrophytum myriostigma cv Onzukas. One of them was in flower yesterday.

It was 1st Onzuka's flowering in this spring.

The cactus is still young, 7 cm in diameter.

Cactus / super kabuto

 I lost quite many matured super kabutus in this spring. They were around 20 years old.

The photo is one of survivers, 17 cm in diameter and 20 years old.

I am not sure the reason but flowers are very  small.

Cactus / asterias

 I covered my greenhouse by 50% shadecloth yesterday morning. 6 asterias were in flower in the afternoon.

The room temperature in the greenhouse was reduced slightly,  which met flowering temperatue of asterias.

The photo is one of them. Seeds were sown in 2003 which means the asterias is 20 years old.

Cactus / horizonthalonium

 I took a cactus photo yesterday afternoon, which was a Gymnocalycium spegazzinii v horizonthalonium sown seeds in 2003.

I bought 100 seeds and sowed but the germination rate was not so good.

Since this cactus also has strong and dense spines, flowers are limited to open.

Cactus / horizonthalonius

 A young echinocactus horizonthalonius was in flower.

The cactus is just 10 cm in diameter.

Last Friday was very hot. The temperature in the greenhouse reached 55 'C in the afternoon.

Cactus / cardenasium

 A gymnocalycium spegazzinii v cardenasium was in flower yesterday afternoon.

I bought 20 seeds and sowed in 2003 but just one has survived.

The flower was limited to open due to dense spines.

Cactus / loricatum

 A gymnocalycium spegazzinii v loricatum was in flower yesterday afternoon.

I bought seeds and sowed in 2003.

Spines of loricatum are thick and short.

Cactus / denegrii

 An obregonia denegrii f San Vincente was in flower yesterday afternoon.

I bought seeds and sowed in 2005.

Tubercles of the form San Vincente are smaller then those of standerd one.

Cactus / grafted scion

 1st grafting process in this season was completed in this morning. 

Scions were Ariocarpus fissuratus cv godzilla. Stocks were off-shoots of Pereskiopsis.

The period of grafting process was 10 days. The photo is one of 4 scions.
