Cactus / variegated Ariocarpus

I found one of grafted Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus was variegated form.
This one was propagated from seeds collected from my plants.
I do not have any variegated kotschyoubeyanus parents plants.
I am not sure the reason of the variegation.

Cactus / jauernigii

It is the beginning of winter and not so many cacti are in flower.
Turbinicarpus jauernigii is a very small cactus and still is in flower.
I sowed seeds on 27/07/2007.
The diameter of the cactus is just 20 mm.

Cactus / bravoanus

Ariocarpus bravoanus is also a small cactus.
I bought 20 seeds and sowed on 12/10/2008.
Several young seedlings were grafted.
This is one of them, in flower this morning.
Since it could not see sunshine last several days, the cactus could not open flowers completely.

Cactus / kotschoubeyanus seedlings

Kotschoubeyanus is an small Ariocarpus.
They are able to propagate relatively easily from seeds.
You need a good watering during hot summer.
Seedlings will be in flower with in 3~4 years.

Cactus / agavoides seedlings

The growing speed of Ariocarpus seedlings are quite slow generally but some species are acceptable speed. One of good growing speed species is agavoides.
Agavoides will be in flower in 4 years old if you could look after very well.
The photo is one of my agavoides sown seeds on 30/09/2006.

Cactus / kotshoubeyanus f Rio Verde

I have been under trying degrafting of Ariocarpus with short Pereskiposis stock.
I set up 12 kotshoubeyanus f Rio Verde last spring.
Rooting medium is crached and sifted scoria.
All of cacti have been with flowering buds.
I assume they are rooted but roots come out just from Pereskiopsis only.

Cactus / miracle kabuto

I sowed plenty of seeds collected from my selected 24 miracle kabutos.
I also have kept seeds for sowing next spring.

Cactus / Hanaizumi

This is an Astrophytum asterias cv Hanaizumi super kabuto.
Hanaizumi means a spring of flowers.
Multiple flowers come out from an areola but it was just one flower because of in autumn.

Cactus / super kabuto

Super kabutos were in flower also.
The photo is one of them.
It is possible to pollinate kabutos in autumn but takes long time to mature a fruit.

Cactus / Hanazono kabuto

Yesterday was a cool day. The max temp was just 18 C' and min temp was 6 C' but the sky was clear and prenty of sunshine.
Although in autumn, various Astrophytum asterias cv kabutos were in flower yesterday.

Cactus / cauliflower

I collected seeds of Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus cv Suguri cauliflower from my plants and sowed on 11/09/2009.
I grafted several very young seedlings.
This is one of them, in flower yesterday.
It was 1st flowering for the cactus.
The character of the cauliflower has been appeared.

Cactus / scapharostorides

I collected seeds of Ariocarpus retusus v scapharostorides from my plants and sowed on 11/09/2009.
Several young seedlings were grafted.
One of these grafted plants were in flower yesterday.
I lost one of parents plants and I could not pollination a while but I could it yeserday.
I expect I would get some seeds next spring.
